Holistic Aromatherapy:

Balanced Harmony of Body, Mind, and Spirit

Aromatherapy is an ancient healing art. It can be described as the art or science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plant parts: seeds, leaves, flowers, roots, leaves, bark, etc. Each oil has its own unique chemistry make up, making each particular oil therapeutic for specific purposes. Just for example, sweet orange oil is high in d-limonene. This tells me it has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, immunostimulant, and skin penetrating properties, which make it a great oil to use in a pain blend. It is also a good uplifting oil and adds “happiness” to any blend that I may make.

NAHA, the Natural Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, defines aromatherapy as “the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize, and promote the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It seeks to unify physiological, psychological and spiritual processes to enhance an individual’s innate healing process.”

When I began my journey of healing energy work, I knew that I wanted to incorporate the use of essential oils. Using oils in this capacity is a form of vibrational healing, as I use the oils by drawing on their subtle, or energetic properties. And so, as many of us use oils for physical and mental balance, I wanted to learn how to use oils for our subtle energetic balance as well. As a Registered Nurse, it was and is of utmost importance to me to have an education on the safe use of oils.  I wanted to offer trustful, educated advice and suggestions for the use of essential oils for traditional uses as well, so I went to several classes and became a Certified Aromatherapist.

As a traditional aromatherapist, I see clients for a variety of issues, for both physical and mental/emotional balance. I make my clients blends based on their own medical history and oil preference. My theory of less is more always applies to my blends.
